Scott’s Selection Aberlour 18
Country: Scotland
Region: Speyside
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Scott's Selection
ABV: 43%
Score: 93 Points
Aberlour’s distillery bottlings are usually matured in sherry casks, but this one comes from an ex-bourbon cask and shows a completely different side of Aberlour’s character. The nose is rich with cinnamon and nutmeg, and reminds me of Christmas time. The taste is again rich with cinnamon, along with a touch of pepper…and even more amazing, a slight brininess. A touch of water opens up an explosion of flavors, and the finish has a slight kiss of salt. Outstanding variation on one of my favorite whiskies. (March, 2009)
