Octomore 15.2

Octomore 15.2 Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Image courtesy Bruichladdich.

Country: Scotland

Region: Islay

Type: Single Malt

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 57.9%

Score: 94 Points

This year’s “point 2” release of Octomore uses the same spirit as Octomore 15.1 with 108.2 ppm of phenols, but matured it in a combination of second-fill ex-Bourbon and wine casks for four years with the final year in French Oak Cognac casks. The nose has touches of red grapes, caramel, a subtle peatiness, and a nice malty character. The taste has notes of white pepper, mangoes, apricots, vanilla, toffee, and a hint of grilled pineapple. The finish is long with citrus fruits, a hint of spice, and a gentle peatiness with a touch of sea salt. Excellent! (August, 2024)
