Kentucky Owl’s new master blender, Scotch Whisky veteran Maureen Robinson, wanted to create a Scotch-like Bourbon, and she’s succeeded with the Maighstir Edition. The nose has touches of malted barley, citrus, pineapple, toasted caramel, vanilla, and a hint of blackberries. The taste has notes of baking spices, vanilla pods, citrusy touches of orange and grapefruit, and caramel. The finish is long, warm, and soothing. (September, 2023)
