This is Gordon and MacPhail’s final cask of whisky from what was known as Milton Distillery until it was acquired by Chivas Brothers in 1950 and renamed Strathisla a year later. It spent 72 years in a first-fill Sherry puncheon cask, and the nose has touches of oranges, lemon zest, vanilla beans, subtle spices, potpourri, and tree fruits. The taste is fruity and vibrant with notes of butterscotch, tropical fruits, nutmeg, a hint of cinnamon, and touches of apple cobbler and honeycomb. The finish is long with a kiss of smoke, red apple cobbler, toffee, and honey. Outstanding! (July, 2022)
