Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
One of the single malts bottled for the virtual 2021 Campbeltown Malts Festival online tastings, this whisky was finished for two years in a Pedro Ximenez Sherry cask after spending its first six years in refill Bourbon. The nose is dry with subtle hints of dried fruits, figs, plums, honey, and vanilla. The taste is anything but subtle, with a vibrant fruity character led by orange peel, hints of mango and papaya, toasted coconut, and caramel candy. The finish is long, fruity, and sweet with a lingering hint of spice. Excellent! (July, 2021)
Special thanks to Matt Lurin and the Water of Life Festival for making this sample available.
