Dramfool Jim McEwan Signature Collection Bruichladdich 2007
This is one of Jim McEwan’s personal casks of Bruichladdich, and Release 1.1 spent 13 years in a first-fill ex-Bordeaux cask. The nose has notes of red grapes, heather, honey, lemongrass, dried fruits, and a hint of hazelnut. The taste is complex, thick, and chewy with a wonderful balance of subtle spices, red wine and grapes, apricots, red apples, and honey. Water boosts the spices and adds a hint of toffee, too. The finish is so long that you’ll consider charging it rent on your palate, with subtle spices and hints of brandy, dried fruits, and honey. Outstanding! (March, 2021)
