Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
This batch of Booker’s honors the late Booker Noe’s love of football, and most whiskey lovers may not know that Booker almost played college football for Bear Bryant at the University of Kentucky in the early 1950’s. Back then, freshmen were ineligible for varsity sports, and Booker left UK to return home and start making whiskey without ever playing a down for the Wildcats.
The nose has notes of caramel candy, chocolate fudge, brown sugar, charred oak, muted spices, and just a hint of maple syrup. The taste is intense and spicy with chili powder and black pepper balanced by a touch of cherries, brown sugar, vanilla, and honey. The finish is long and well-balanced between spices and sweetness. Excellent! (December, 2020)
