Amrut Triparva Indian Single Malt Whisky. Photo ©2020, Mark Gillespie/CaskStrength Media.Triple-distillation is relatively rare outside of Ireland, and most distilleries that traditionally use double-distillation wouldn’t think of trying to make a triple-distilled single malt. Fortunately, Amrut isn’t one of those distilleries, and Triparva is the product of the distillery’s experimentation with triple-distilling its whisky. The nose has notes of oak sawdust, molasses cookies, and a nice maltiness along with hints of dried fruits and tobacco. The taste is spicy with a touch of licorice and oak tannins, molasses, and a hint of tobacco. The finish has lingering spices along with a malty character that starts to come alive at this point, complemented by hint of molasses and dried fruits. (November, 2020)
