Pittyvaich 30 2020 Special Release
Country: Scotland
Region: Speyside
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 50.8%
Score: 94 Points
This single malt from the long-closed Pittyvaich Distillery was distilled in 1989 and finished in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks before being bottled as one of the whiskies in Diageo’s 2020 Special Releases series. The nose is fruity with pears, pineapple, and a hint of bananas along with hints of linseed oil and vanilla. The taste has an oily, thick mouthfeel with intensely fruity tartness and a hint of white pepper balanced by touches of honey, vanilla, and linseed oil. Water boosts both the sweeter notes and the spices while also adding a hint of butterscotch. Wow! (October, 2020)
