Highland Park Cask Strength Release No. 1
Country: Scotland
Region: Highlands
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 63.3%
Score: 93 Points
This is the first cask-strength single malt in the Highland Park range, and uses a higher percentage of American Oak casks than the rest of the core range. The nose has notes of butterscotch, Manuka honey, brown sugar, vanilla, caramel, and subtle hints of peat smoke and dried flowers. The taste is well-rounded and complex with spices nicely balanced by sweeter notes of toffee, honey, nutmeg, and hints of grapefruit, orange peel, and papaya. Adding water boosts the fruitiness while not diminishing the spicy character. The finish is long and spicy with hints of toasted caramel and tropical fruits. (October, 2020)
