Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
Likely to be one of the most expensive Bourbons around, with a recommended retail price of $2,000 per decanter, this limited edition takes fully-matured Woodford Reserve Bourbon and gives it an extra three years in XO Cognac casks from France before being bottled in a bespoke Baccarat crystal decanter. The nose has notes of dark fruits, cocoa beans, a nice oakiness, freshly-ground vanilla beans, and subtle spices. The taste starts off with dried fruits followed by hints of clove, cinnamon, and allspice complemented by dark chocolate, toasted caramel, vanilla, and a subtle oakiness in the background. Subtle spices linger nicely on the long finish along with touches of baking chocolate, caramel, and a hint of fruity character. Wow! (October, 2020)
