Bushmills Rare Casks 28 Years Cognac Cask
Country: Ireland
Region:
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 46.7%
Score: 94 Points
This debut single malt release in the Bushmills Rare Casks Series spent its first 11 years in a combination of ex-Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks, then the whiskies were married and filled into Cognac casks to spend another 17 years. The nose has notes of almond oil, orange peel, a hint of mango, and touches of dates, ginger, nutmeg, and caramel. The taste is thick and nectar-like with orange marmalade, baking spices, hints of apricots and peaches, and a slight touch of roasted almonds in the background. The long finish has lingering fruity notes with a hint of potpourri. Excellent! (October, 2020)
