Daviess County Straight Bourbon
Country: USA
Region: Kentucky
Type: Bourbon
Bottler: Lux Row Distillers/Luxco
ABV: 48%
Score: 92 Points
Kentucky’s Daviess County was a hotbed of Bourbon distilling before Prohibition, and Lux Row Distillers in Bardstown has revived the name for a modern range of Bourbons. The nose on this Straight Bourbon has notes of oak, leather, pipe tobacco, cocoa beans, honey, and vanilla. The taste is slightly astringent and spicy with black pepper and chili powder notes balanced by a hint of oak tannins, honey, vanilla, pipe tobacco, and caramel. The finish is long and slightly dry with a gentle oakiness and touches of honey and caramel sweetness. (September, 2020)
