Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
This single malt spent its first nine years or so in ex-Bourbon barrels before being filled into a Port pipe in 2016. The color is a rosy gold with just a hint of copper, and the nose has subtle spices, dark fruits, baked orange and other citrus complemented by hints of cocoa and caramel candy for a very complex aroma. The taste has fruity notes of pears, orange peel, and grilled pineapple along with touches of nutmeg, caramel candy, and toasted vanilla. The finish is long and complex with hints of oak, subtle spices, and dried fruits, but adding a few drops of water boosts the spices and makes the finish amazingly long. Outstanding! (August, 2020)
