Barrel and Bottle Town Branch Oloroso Barrel
Country: USA
Region: Kentucky
Type: Straight Malt Whisky
Bottler: Barrel and Bottle
ABV: 60.25%
Score: 90 Points
This straight malt whisky was matured for 10 years and four months in an Oloroso Sherry barrel, and the nose has notes of oak, figs, brown sugar, muted spices, and hints of butterscotch and molasses cookies. The taste is peppery and intense with touches of figs and dates underneath, while hints of licorice, anise, and molasses come out as the spices fade. Adding water brings out notes of cherries and raisins on the palate as well, while the finish is long and aromatic with touches of anise, molasses, and a touch of oak. (August, 2020)
