Most rye whiskies usually have at least a small percentage of malted barley in them to help with the fermentation process, but this whiskey is made with 100% rye grain. The nose has baking spices, honey, leather, dried fruits, and oak sawdust. The taste has spicy notes of clove, cinnamon, and cardamom balanced by dried fruits, honey, and caramel-covered apples. The finish is long with gently fading spices. Very nice. (July, 2020)
