Pinhook Rye’d On 2020 Crop
Country: USA
Region: Kentucky
Type: Rye Whiskey
Bottler: CJS Beverage
ABV: 48.5%
Score: 92 Points
This is the first Straight Rye whiskey release known to have been distilled at Kentucky’s Castle & Key Distillery (the original Old Taylor Distillery) since it reopened in 2017 for the first time in nearly 50 years. The nose on this 3-year-old whiskey is warm and welcoming, with good baking spices, a touch of pipe tobacco, sandalwood, vanilla, and oak. The taste has clove, cinnamon, and black pepper spices with touches of dried fruits, honey, and pipe tobacco in the background. The finish is long with lingering spices and a subtle sweetness.
