The second 2020 release of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof comes in at 63.6% ABV (127.2 Proof), and the nose is slightly dry and astringent with sweet honey and caramel notes, muted spices, cocoa beans, and brown sugar. The taste is intense and peppery with chili powder, black pepper, and cinnamon spices that fade slowly to reveal honey, caramel, and brown sugar in the background. Water opens up touches of cocoa and tobacco leaf on the palate, while the finish is long, dry, and spicy. (May, 2020)
