Redbreast 27 Year Old
Country: Ireland
Region:
Type: Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 54.6%
Score: 97 Points
This Redbreast combines the usual Sherry cask influence with single pot still whiskeys matured in ex-Bourbon and, most notably, Port wine casks from Portugal’s Douro Valley. The nose has fruity notes of raspberry jam, red grapes, and apricots along with a hint of black cherries, muted spices, and a gentle oakiness. The taste is fruity, vibrant, and luscious with an explosion of fresh berries, black cherries, apricots, and plums complemented by soft hints of baking spices and oak tannins. The finish is long, intense, and fruity. This may well be one of my favorite Redbreast expressions yet! (March, 2020)
