Cotswolds Peated Cask Single Malt Whisky. Image courtesy Cotswolds Distillery. This English single malt is distilled from barley grown near the distillery, then matured in quarter-size casks previously used by a certain Islay distillery (one that named one of its whiskies for those quarter casks). The nose has a soft peatiness along with hints of heather, vanilla, and dried grass clippings. The taste is thick, oily, smoky, and pungent with hints of grilled pineapple, honey, vanilla, and a hint of coconut. The finish is long with a gentle smokiness. (March, 2020)
