Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Tasters’ Selection: Barrel Proof Rye
Country: USA
Region: Tennessee
Type: Rye Whiskey
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 63.8%
Score: 93 Points
This limited-edition rye from Jack Daniel’s is only available in Tennessee (and at the distillery), and is a cask-strength version of the regular Jack Daniel’s Rye. The nose has notes of soft baking spices, honey, a hint of maple, rye bread baking in the oven, and toasted oak. The taste is thick, chewy, and peppery with clove, cinnamon, and allspice notes balanced by honey, a hint of molasses, brown. sugar, and hints of dried fruits that come out as the spices fade. Water boosts the sweetness in the background without dampening the spiciness. The finish is dry and slightly oaky with lingering spices. (August, 2019)
