Bulleit Rye 12 Years Old. Image courtesy Bulleit/Diageo. The “95” on the label for Bulleit’s 12-year-old rye whiskey refers to the 95% rye mashbill used to distill it at MGP, and it’s the same recipe used for the standard Bulleit Rye with no age statement. There’s also a slight difference in bottling proof for this one: 46% ABV compared to the standard version’s 45%. The nose is slightly herbal with a touch of dill and notes of nutmeg, allspice, honey, vanilla, and a touch of oak. The taste is spicy with clove, allspice, and cinnamon along with a hint of dill and touches of honey and vanilla in the background. A little water opens this whiskey up nicely and rounds out the flavors. The finish is medium-length with lingering spices. (May, 2019)
