This is only the third release of Michter’s US*1 Barrel Strength Rye, and the first since 2016. The nose is spicy and aromatic with notes of baking spices, dark chocolate, molasses, pipe tobacco, and a hint of black cherries. The taste is thick, chewy, and spicy with black pepper, clove, and chili powder complemented by touches of honey, molasses, and black cherries underneath. The finish is long and slightly sweet with molasses, black cherries, and lingering spices. (April, 2019)
