Lagavulin 9 Year Old: House Lannister Edition
Country: Scotland
Region: Islay
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 46%
Score: 94 Points
Islay was once ruled by the Lords of the Isles, just as the Lannisters schemed and plotted for the Iron Throne in Game of Thrones. This whisky is part of Diageo’s Game of Thrones Single Malt Scotch Whisky Collection, and the nose is smoky with barbecue sauce and hints of heather, honey, and brine, along with a touch of dried fruits in the background. The taste is thick, smoky, and peppery with tangy barbecue sauce and tropical fruits that add a nice counterbalance along with hints of honey and toasted vanilla. The finish is long and fades away gently with touches of smoke and spices. Excellent! (April, 2019)
