Duncan Taylor Octave/Whisky Peddler “Iconic Speyside” 9 Year Old
Country: Scotland
Region: Speyside
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Duncan Taylor & Co.
ABV: 52.9%
Score: 89 Points
This Bourbon cask-matured whisky was distilled in 2008 at a Speyside distillery that does not allow its name to be used on independent bottlings, and typically uses ex-Sherry casks for most of its own bottlings. It was bottled by Duncan Taylor & Co. for the “Whisky Peddler” line of whiskies at Bayway World of Liquors in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
The nose has notes of crème brûlée, butterscotch, honey, vanilla, and a hint of toffee. The taste is spicy with black pepper, clove, cinnamon, charred oak, and touches of honey and butterscotch in the background. The finish is long and spicy with a touch of oak. (February, 2019)
