The Glenallachie 12
Country: Scotland
Region: Speyside
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 46%
Score: 93 Points
This single malt from the Glenallachie Distillery’s new (2017) ownership group led by Billy Walker was part of the core range unveiled in the summer of 2018. It was originally matured in ex-Bourbon barrels before being finished in a combination of virgin oak, Oloroso, and Pedro Ximenez casks.
The nose has notes of heather, honey, and butterscotch with a hint of cocoa powder. The taste is fruity and tart with citrus, hints of apricots and lemon pepper spice, honey, and butterscotch. The finish is long and gentle with lingering tartness and fruitiness in a nice balance. (January, 2019)
