This 18-year-old single malt from an undisclosed Orkney distillery (there are two…pick one) was The Whisky Exchange’s annual release for Black Friday 2018, with just 1,400 bottles available. The nose has notes of heather, dried leaves, a hint of cocoa, smokiness, and honey. The taste is fruity with a hint of smoke, delayed spicy notes of cinnamon and nutmeg, sultanas, and hints of tree fruits. The finish is garden-fresh with touches of heather and gorse along with lingering touches of spices and smokiness. Excellent! (January, 2019)
