Canadian Club Barley Batch Limited Edition. Image courtesy Canadian Club/Beam Suntory. This is a Canada-only release to celebrate Canadian Club’s 160th anniversary in 2018, and it will change the way you think of Canadian Club forever! The blenders have taken the standard 5-year-old Canadian Club Premium whisky from the Hiram Walker Distillery in Windsor, Ontario and added in some 6-year-old barley malt from Alberta Distillers in Calgary. The result is a whisky with a complex and malty nose, with brown sugar and honey complementing the grainy nature that reminds me of a horse stable with oats at feeding time for a toasty, warm aroma. The taste is grainy and spicy with barley sugar, oats, and a touch of toasted bread balanced by honey, vanilla, caramel, and toffee notes. The finish is toasty and warm with barley sugar, maple syrup, and oatmeal. Wow! (November, 2018)
