Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
This whiskey is only available at the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience on Louisville’s “Whiskey Row,” and a handful of Kentucky retailers. It’s a blend of the regular Evan Williams Bourbon, along with the 1783, Bottled in Bond, and the Evan Williams 23-year-old.
The nose has notes of vanilla, caramel, honey, and orange pekoe tea. The taste is complex and spicy with a good mouthfeel and touches of cinnamon and black pepper. The spices are balanced by orange pekoe tea and hints of caramel and vanilla, while adding some water will increase the complexity with hints of straw and dried flowers as it boosts the spices a bit. The finish is long with lingering spices and a good balance of sweeter notes in the background. (July, 2018)
