McCarthy’s Oregon Single Malt
Country: USA
Region: Oregon
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 42.5%
Score: 89 Points
Widely regarded as the first modern American single malt of the “craft distilling” era, this whiskey from Oregon’s Clear Creek Distillery was first distilled in 1993. Now, as then, it’s matured for three years in Oregon’s own Garryana Oak, and the nose is malty and lemony with touches of straw, honey, and vanilla. The taste is lemony and tart with a touch of clove, dark honey, straw, and barley sugar. The finish is long and tart with a hint of spice. A simple, clean whiskey. (June, 2018)
