The Baltimore Whiskey Company Epoch Rye
Country: USA
Region: Maryland
Type: Rye Whiskey
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 50%
Score: 90 Points
This straight rye whiskey is the first distilled in more than 50 years in Baltimore, long known as a hotbed for rye whiskey production before Prohibition. The nose is aromatic with good spicy notes of clove, allspice, and nutmeg, along with oak, molasses, and a hint of vanilla. The taste has those same spicy notes and a hint of anise that comes out in the background, along with molasses and honey notes underneath that provide a nice balance. The finish is long and aromatic with lingering spices and hints of anise and oak. (May, 2018)
