Ichiro’s Malt & Grain
Country: Japan
Region:
Type: Blended Whisky
Bottler: Venture Whisky
ABV: 46.5%
Score: 90 Points
This unique whisky from Japanese legend Ichiro Akuto blends malts from his Chichibu Distillery and his family’s old Hanyu Distillery with whiskies sourced from several different countries, making it a truly “world” whisky. The nose is malty with a touch of oak, sawdust, muted spices, and a hint of grilled pineapple. The taste has a great barley sugar sweetness and spicy notes of ginger, clove, and allspice, while apricot, pineapple, mango, and a hint of lemon zest create a nice, complex flavor combination. The finish is long with lingering spices and a touch of tartness. (May, 2018)
