Bowmore 26 Vintner’s Trilogy
Country: Scotland
Region: Islay
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 48.7%
Score: 92 Points
This is the second release in the Vintner’s Trilogy series of limited-edition releases from Bowmore, and was matured first for 13 years in ex-Bourbon barrels before being put into French Oak wine barriques for another 13 years. The nose has notes of baked cherries, blackberry jam, a soft smokiness, toasted raisin bread, and a hint of menthol. The taste is fruity, smoky, and woody with baking chocolate, berry cobbler, and a hint of of cherry pie for a robust and well-rounded flavor. The finish has a lingering fruitiness and smoke with just a touch of wet beach sand. (April, 2018)
