Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
This is Westland Distillery’s 2018 April (Fool’s) limited-edition release, and while it may not be the best way to quench an athlete’s thirst, the whisky itself is no joke. The nose is light and clean with a touch of oak tannins, barley sugar, honey, muted spices, and a hint of brown sugar. The taste has a slight tartness at first with a good spicy buildup of clove and cinnamon balanced by honey, vanilla, and barley sugar underneath. The finish fades away gently with lingering spices and a nice balance of honey and brown sugar underneath. One other note: while there are three different labels (“Blue Buzz,” Red Slap,” and “Green Grip), the whiskey is the same for all three. Excellent! (March, 2018)
