Port Askaig 19
Country: Scotland
Region: Islay
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Speciality Drinks
ABV: 50.4%
Score: 91 Points
This independent bottling of a 19-year-old single malt from an unnamed Islay distillery (most likely Caol Ila) has a lightly peated nose with mild phenols and a slightly medicinal touch, along with notes of heather, honey, vanilla, and hints of brine and smoked salmon. Smokiness develops slowly on the palate, but makes up for it with good spices and peat smoke, black pepper, heather, honey, and vanilla. The finish is long and soft with a gentle smokiness and touches of vanilla, heather, and honey in the background. (March, 2018)
