Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
This Powers bottling was produced to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Dublin’s Licensed Vintners Association, and is officially available only at Dublin pubs while it lasts. It was made with 100% ex-Bourbon casks between 10 and 18 years old, and the nose has a soft oakiness with notes of clove, vanilla, caramel, cinnamon apples, creme brûlée, and red apple peel. The taste is unctuous and sweet at first, then the pot still spices kick in with clove and allspice, along with hints of burnt caramel, toasted vanilla and marshmallow for an extremely complex palate. The finish is long with a soft oakiness and lingering spices. Outstanding! (October, 2017)
Editor’s note: Thanks to Luke Gough for treating me to this dram at The Long Hall in Dublin!
