Gordon & MacPhail Longmorn 1973
Country: Scotland
Region: Speyside
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Gordon & MacPhail
ABV: 43%
Score: 96 Points
This vintage malt was distilled in March of 1973 and bottled in 2015 after 42 years in a first-fill ex-Sherry butt. The nose is dry, mellow, and slightly earthy with notes of berry cobbler, apple pie, a hint of smoke, and a slightly dusty touch reflecting its age and maturity. The taste has notes of apples, berries, a hint of orange peel, mango, a subtle touch of grapefruit, and a slight smokiness. The finish is long, and finally, here’s where the spiciness comes out with ginger and a hint of citrus tartness. Outstanding! (October, 2017)
