Port Ellen 37 Years Old 2017 Release
Country: Scotland
Region: Islay
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 51%
Score: 94 Points
The 2017 edition of Port Ellen from Diageo’s Special Releases series was distilled in 1979, and the nose has notes of lemon pepper, driftwood smoke, dried flowers, straw, honey, and hints of apricots and peaches. The taste is fruity and smooth at first, and then the smoke and spices come alive with a good peatiness and tart lemon pepper, along with peach pie, dark chocolate, and apple cider notes that become more prominent as the spices fade. The finish is long and mouth-watering with subtle spices, lingering peat smoke, and a touch of grilled pineapple. Wow! (October, 2017)
