Lagavulin 2016 Jazz Festival Edition
Country: Scotland
Region: Islay
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 54.5%
Score: 94 Points
Each September, Laphroaig produces a distillery-only bottling for sale during the Lagavulin-sponsored Islay Jazz Festival. 6,000 bottles of the 2016 edition were produced using a combination of refill American Oak casks and first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels.
The nose has a good smokiness with licorice, coffee beans, cocoa, honey, brown sugar, and a subtle fruitiness. The taste has good spices and smokiness with hints of heather, anise, cocoa beans, vanilla, honey, and a hint of citrus. The finish is amazingly long with a good lingering smokiness. Excellent!
