Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
This high-caliber Bulleit is only available in Kentucky, and comes from whiskey originally distilled for Diageo at Four Roses. The ABV will vary from barrel to barrel, and the nose is intense but well-balanced with notes of oak, molasses, brown sugar, pipe tobacco, leather, and muted spices. The spices come alive on the palate with cinnamon, black pepper, and chili powder notes that dominate and fade slowly to reveal hints of honey, oak, and brown sugar. The finish is short, considering that the spices fade away quickly, leaving the mouth watering with hints of honey and oak. Water improves the palate greatly by opening up touches of tree fruits, caramel, and vanilla – while the finish becomes much longer and better balanced. (May, 2016)
