Kilchoman Sanaig
Country: Scotland
Region: Islay
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 46%
Score: 92 Points
This Islay single malt is matured primarily in Oloroso Sherry casks, and the nose has a good, soft peatiness with notes of honey, butterscotch, heather, and oak. The taste has notes of caramel and coffee beans at first, before the phenolic peaty notes develop. There are hints of pepper and licorice in the background that add balance to the thick, rich mouthfeel. The finish has a lingering smokiness with a hint of grilled peaches. Very nice! (May, 2016)
