Amrut Peated Bourbon Cask

Country: India

Region:

Type: Single Malt

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 62.8%

Score: 86 Points

Just as with the Amrut Bourbon Cask, this single cask bottling comes from virgin American oak and an ex-Bourbon cask, and is bottled at cask strength with no chill-filtering. The difference is that it’s made with peated malt imported from Scotland, then milled, mashed, fermented, and distilled at Amrut’s distillery in Bangalore.

The nose is smoky and nutty with hints of ash, oak, vanilla, almonds, and honey. The taste is smoky and spicy with peat smoke and the same combination of chili powder, black pepper, and cinnamon from the Bourbon Cask. However, this one fades to a smoky finish with less balance and complexity than the Bourbon Cask. (November, 2015)
