Bowmore Mizunara Cask Finish

This is the first single malt Scotch whisky to be finished in Japanese Mizunara Oak casks, and while it carries no age statement, it is bottled at a cask-strength 53.9% ABV.
The nose has a good balance of peatiness and honey sweetness, along with notes of pine, cedar, muted spices, and a hint of lemon zest. The taste is thick, smoky, and tangy with charred oak, peat, grilled meat, peaches, a touch of lemon zest tartness, and a hint of red apples. The finish is long and soft with lingering peat and touches of pine needles and cedar shavings. Overall, very aromatic and smooth. (September, 2015)
