More Speyside distilleries are experimenting with peat after discarding it decades ago in favor of unpeated barley, and Glen Moray’s version is a welcome addition. The nose has a good balance of peat and delicate fruity notes of pears, peaches, and green apples, along with hints of coconut and vanilla. The taste is peaty, but not pungent with a good balance of smokiness and fruity notes along with touches of dried flowers. The finish is smooth, very long, and has a gentle smokiness. Very nice.
