Aberlour A’Bunadh Batch #51
Country: Scotland
Region: Speyside
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 60.8%
Score: 91 Points
Want to complain about “inferior” no age statement whiskies? Don’t even try to raise that argument with Aberlour’s A’Bunadh. Batch #51 is bottled at a whopping 60.8% ABV, and the nose redefines the term “sherry bomb” with intense notes of figs, plums, raisins, dates, dark chocolate, manuka honey, and a subtle hint of oak. The taste is mouth-puckering, dry, and fruity at first…then turns spicy with clove and cinnamon notes. The spices fade to bring out figs, raisins, and dark chocolate notes that linger through the finish. Excellent! (May, 2015)
