This cask-strength official bottling gets its name from a stream several miles from the distillery near Tomintoul, and was matured for 14 years in a hogshead cask before bottling. The nose starts off with citrus and almond notes, with a nice touch of dried orange peel, vanilla, straw, and a hint of malt. The taste is dry and astringent at first with a slight alcohol burn, followed by a vanilla cream cake frosting note and hints of nougat coming out as the burn fades. A few drops of water add creaminess and depth to the palate, along with a nice nuttiness. The finish is long, dry, and slightly citrusy. (February, 2015)
