Old Malt Cask Brora 28
Country: Scotland
Region: Highlands
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Douglas Laing & Co.
ABV: 50%
Score: 94 Points
This vintage single malt from Douglas Laing & Co. was distilled at Brora in February of 1971 and bottled in December of 1999, with just 283 bottles produced. The nose has a gentle smokiness along with toasted oak, coconut, a touch of maltiness, dried flowers, heather, and a hint of creme brûlée. The taste is smoky and thick with growing spicy notes of cinnamon and black pepper, licorice, and a slightly floral touch on top with a good oakiness in the background. The finish is smoky and lingering. Thanks to Peter Silver of the Malt Maniacs for providing a sample from his collection! (October, 2014)
