Benromach 1976 Vintage. Image courtesy Gordon & MacPhail. This vintage Benromach was distilled long before the distillery was mothballed and then resurrected by Gordon & MacPhail, and spent around 38 years in a combination of first-fill and refill ex-Sherry hogshead casks before it was bottled in 2014.

The nose has notes of orange peel, vanilla custard, hints of figs and marmalade, along with fresh berries. The taste is peppery with an underlying fruitiness and notes of white pepper, marmalade, apricots, and hints of almonds and cocoa. The finish is fruity with lingering white pepper and hints of mint and coconut. Excellent! (August, 2014)
