This rating is for Batch #1 of the Tomatin 1988 released in 2014, with additional batches to follow in coming years. It is matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Port wine casks.
The nose is aromatic with toasted oak, honey, baked apples, red grapes, dried figs, brown sugar, and a touch of balsamic vinegar. The taste is spicy with cinnamon, chili powder, honey, balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, red apples, and a touch of clove. The finish is lingering, spicy, and slightly tart with clove, cinnamon, and a touch of licorice. (May, 2014)
