Jack Daniel’s Rested Rye
Country: USA
Region: Tennessee
Type: Rye
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 40%
Score: 82 Points
Jack Daniel’s released its Unaged Rye whiskey in late 2012, and this is the same whiskey after a couple of winters in the warehouse. It’s still a work in progress, but is starting to show some promise.
The nose is heavy on caramel and brown sugar, with touches of clove, black pepper, honey, and oak. The taste is light and thin at first, followed by a burst of clove and notes of lemon oil, cinnamon, honey, and caramel. The finish is dry and spicy with clove, honey, lemon oil, and a touch of cinnamon. (May, 2014)
